OhMyCalc

Homebrew Gravity Calculator

Calculate ABV, apparent attenuation, and calories from original and final gravity readings.

How to Use the Homebrew Gravity Calculator

  1. Take an original gravity reading before pitching yeast.
  2. Take a final gravity reading when fermentation is complete.
  3. Enter both values (e.g., 1.050 and 1.010).
  4. Click Calculate to see ABV, attenuation, and calories.

ABV = (OG − FG) × 131.25. Apparent Attenuation = (OG − FG) / (OG − 1) × 100%.

الأسئلة الشائعة

What is original gravity (OG)?
OG is the density of the wort before fermentation, measured with a hydrometer. Water is 1.000; a typical beer wort is 1.040–1.060.
What is final gravity (FG)?
FG is the density after fermentation is complete. Lower FG means more sugar was fermented into alcohol.
What is apparent attenuation?
It's the percentage of fermentable sugars consumed by yeast. Higher attenuation means a drier, more alcoholic beer.
