Formula: Corrected Ca = Measured Ca + 0.8 × (4.0 − Albumin). Normal range: 8.5–10.5 mg/dL.

よくある質問

Why correct calcium for albumin?
About 40% of blood calcium is bound to albumin. When albumin is low, total calcium appears falsely low. The correction estimates true calcium levels.
What is the normal albumin used?
The formula uses 4.0 g/dL as the reference albumin level. For each 1 g/dL decrease in albumin, measured calcium is adjusted up by 0.8 mg/dL.
What is a normal calcium level?
Normal total serum calcium is 8.5-10.5 mg/dL (2.12-2.62 mmol/L). Corrected calcium accounts for albumin binding.
