QoS Bandwidth Calculator
Allocate network bandwidth across voice, video, and data traffic classes. Calculate available bandwidth per class and estimate voice calls supported.
How to Use the QoS Bandwidth Calculator
- Enter total available bandwidth in Mbps.
- Enter percentage allocation for voice, video, and data.
- Click Calculate to see bandwidth per class and call capacity.
Casi d'Uso
- •Configuring QoS policies on routers and switches.
- •Planning bandwidth for unified communications deployments.
- •Sizing WAN links for mixed traffic environments.
- •Justifying bandwidth upgrades based on traffic analysis.
Formula
Voice bandwidth = Total × voice%. Video bandwidth = Total × video%. Data = Total × data%. Voice calls = voice Mbps / 0.1 Mbps per call.

What bandwidth does a VoIP call use?
A G.711 VoIP call uses about 64–87 kbps. G.729 codec uses only 8–32 kbps with compression.
What is a typical QoS policy?
A common policy: 20% voice, 30% video, 50% data. Voice and video get priority queuing.
Should percentages add up to 100%?
They can, but leaving headroom (e.g., 10%) for management traffic is good practice.
