Lime Requirement Calculator
Calculate the amount of lime needed to raise soil pH to the target level.
How to Use the Lime Requirement Calculator
- Enter the field area in m².
- Enter the current soil pH.
- Enter the target pH.
- Select the soil type and click Calculate.
Casi d'Uso
- •Liming acidic agricultural land.
- •Preparing soil for lawns or vegetable gardens.
- •Rehabilitating degraded land.
- •Agrochemical analysis and planning.
Formula
Lime (kg) = area (m²) × base rate (kg/ha) × ΔpH / 10000. Rates: sandy — 1500, loam — 2500, clay — 4000 kg/ha per pH unit.
Domande Frequenti
Why lime the soil?
Liming raises the pH of acidic soils, improving nutrient availability and reducing aluminum toxicity.
When should lime be applied?
Ideally in autumn or several months before sowing, to allow time for the lime to dissolve and react.
Why does the rate depend on soil type?
Clay soils have a higher buffering capacity and require more lime to change the pH.
