Cooling Load Calculator
Estimate the cooling load in BTU/h and AC tonnage based on room area, occupants, equipment, and sun exposure.
How to Use the Cooling Load Calculator
- Enter the room area in square feet.
- Enter the number of occupants.
- Enter equipment heat load in watts.
- Select sun exposure direction.
- Click Calculate for BTU and AC tonnage.
Cas d'utilisation
- •Residential AC unit sizing.
- •Office cooling load assessment.
- •Server room cooling design.
- •HVAC system pre-design.
Formule
BTU = area × sun_factor + occupants × 600 + equipment × 3.41. Tons = BTU / 12000.
Questions fréquemment posées
What sun exposure factor is used?
North: 20 BTU/ft². South: 30 BTU/ft². East/West: 25 BTU/ft² per hour.
What is AC tonnage?
1 ton of AC = 12,000 BTU/h cooling capacity. A typical bedroom needs 0.5–1 ton.
Why include equipment watts?
Electronics, lighting, and appliances generate heat that adds to the cooling load (1W ≈ 3.41 BTU/h).
