SIRS Criteria Calculator
Calculate SIRS (Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome) criteria to identify systemic inflammation.
How to Use the SIRS Criteria Calculator
- Select 'Yes' if temperature >38°C or <36°C.
- Select 'Yes' if heart rate >90 bpm.
- Select 'Yes' if respiratory rate >20/min or PaCO2 <32 mmHg.
- Select 'Yes' if WBC >12,000 or <4,000 /mm³ or >10% bands.
- Click 'Calculate' to see if SIRS criteria are met.
حالات الاستخدام
- •Identifying systemic inflammatory response in hospitalised patients.
- •Early sepsis screening (SIRS + suspected infection).
- •Triggering further diagnostic workup.
الصيغة
SIRS = presence of ≥2 of 4 criteria: Temperature abnormality + HR >90 + RR >20 or PaCO2 <32 + WBC abnormality.
الأسئلة الشائعة
What is SIRS?
Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS) is a clinical syndrome characterised by a systemic inflammatory response to a variety of insults including infection, trauma, burns, and surgery. SIRS is defined by 2 or more of 4 criteria.
How are SIRS criteria interpreted?
≥2 criteria: SIRS criteria met — may indicate systemic inflammatory response; consider underlying cause. SIRS does not necessarily mean infection; it may be sterile. It is distinct from sepsis (SIRS + suspected infection).
