Cable Ampacity Calculator
Look up maximum current-carrying capacity (ampacity) for copper and aluminium cables by conductor size and installation method per IEC 60364.
How to Use the Cable Ampacity Calculator
- Select the conductor cross-sectional size in mm².
- Select the installation method (A, B, or C).
- Select conductor material (copper or aluminium) and click Calculate.
حالات الاستخدام
- •Sizing power cables for electrical installations.
- •Checking cable adequacy for motor and panel circuits.
- •Comparing copper vs aluminium cable options for cost optimisation.
الصيغة
Ampacity values are based on IEC 60364-5-52 reference installation methods: A (conduit in wall), B (conduit on wall/trunking), C (clipped direct). Values are for single circuits at 30°C ambient.
الأسئلة الشائعة
What are installation methods A, B, and C?
Method A: cables in conduit in thermally insulating wall. Method B: cables in conduit on wall or in cable trunking. Method C: single cables clipped direct to a non-metallic surface.
Should I derate for grouping or high ambient temperature?
Yes. The tabulated values are for single circuits at 30°C. Apply IEC 60364 derating factors for cables bundled together or in ambient temperatures above 30°C.
Is this calculator free?
Yes, all OhMyCalc calculators are completely free to use.
