Why multiply by 2?

Most garments need front and back cut from the same fabric, so the rough rule doubles the pattern width. Adjust the waste percentage for more complex pieces.

What waste percentage should I use?

10–15% for simple shapes and plain fabrics; 20–30% for directional prints, plaid matching or curved garments.
