What waste allowance is normal?
7–10% for horizontal installation on a rectangular wall; 12–15% for diagonal patterns or walls with many openings.
Which board width should I enter?
Use the working (useful) width — i.e. the exposed face after the tongue-and-groove joint, not the full overall width.
Does length affect the count?
Yes — longer boards reduce cut-offs and waste. If you know the wall length matches your board length, use a lower waste %.
