ABSI Calculator (A Body Shape Index)
Calculate ABSI — a body shape index that factors in waist circumference, weight, and height to estimate health risk more precisely than BMI.
How to Use the ABSI Calculator (A Body Shape Index)
- Measure waist circumference at the narrowest point, in centimetres.
- Enter height and weight.
- Click Calculate to see BMI and ABSI.
使用例
- •Screening for central adiposity risk alongside BMI.
- •Tracking body-composition change during weight loss.
- •Population studies of metabolic risk.
計算式
ABSI = waist / (BMI^(2/3) × height^(1/2)), where waist and height are in metres and BMI is in kg/m².
よくある質問
How is ABSI different from BMI?
BMI uses only weight and height and cannot distinguish muscle from fat or where fat is distributed. ABSI incorporates waist circumference, which reflects visceral fat — the fat most strongly linked to cardiovascular and metabolic risk.
What is a healthy ABSI value?
ABSI is usually interpreted via a z-score relative to a reference population. Positive z-scores indicate higher-than-average risk; strongly negative values indicate lower risk. Absolute ABSI around 0.07–0.08 is typical for adults.
