Steps/min = (speed × 60) / 0.4. Capacity (pers/h) ≈ steps/min × persons/step × 60 × 0.8 (usage factor).
Questions fréquemment posées
Why 0.8 usage factor?
Real occupancy rarely fills every step. EN 115 and ASME A17 both apply a diversity factor around 0.75–0.85.
Is motor power exact?
No — it is an order-of-magnitude estimate. Real escalators add friction, efficiency and safety margins.
