IV Drip Rate Calculator
Compute the IV drip rate in drops per minute and infusion rate in mL/hour from total volume, duration and drop factor of the giving set.
How to Use the IV Drip Rate Calculator
- Enter total volume to infuse in mL.
- Enter total infusion duration in minutes.
- Pick the drop factor from your IV set.
- Click Calculate.
Anwendungsfälle
- •Nursing bedside drip setup.
- •Training fluid therapy protocols.
- •Cross-checking pump vs manual flow.
Formel
Drip rate (gtts/min) = (volume_mL × drop_factor) / time_min. Rate (mL/h) = (volume_mL / time_min) × 60. Standard drop factors: 10/15/20 gtts/mL (macro), 60 gtts/mL (micro).
Häufig gestellte Fragen
Where is the drop factor written?
On the IV set packaging. Standard adult macro sets are 15 or 20 gtts/mL; blood sets 10 gtts/mL; pediatric micro sets 60 gtts/mL.
What about infusion pumps?
Pumps bypass the drop factor and deliver mL/h directly. Use the mL/h output and program the pump; the drop rate is informational only.
